What Is Kundalini Reiki? Kundalini Reiki is a system of energy healing in which practitioners act as channels for universal life energy. The practice works with the natural life force that flows through all living beings and supports balance within the body, mind, and energy field.
In this system, the term Kundalini refers to the life energy traditionally described as resting at the base of the spine. When this energy awakens, it is said to rise through the main energetic channel along the spine toward the head. As the energy moves upward, it is believed to gently clear energetic pathways and support the natural flow of life force throughout the body.
This vital energy is known by different names across cultures and traditions, such as Qi, Ki, prana, bioenergy, or simply life force. Although the terminology may vary, these traditions describe a similar concept: a fundamental energy that sustains vitality, awareness, and inner harmony.
Kundalini Reiki is considered a gentle and gradual method of working with this life force. Through attunements and practice, many people use it as a way to deepen their connection with their inner energy, support relaxation, and cultivate greater balance and clarity.
Origins of Kundalini Reiki
The system known as Kundalini Reiki was developed by Danish Master Ole Gabrielsen. According to the tradition, he received an initiation into this energy during meditation from the Ascended Master Kuthumi. In the early 2000s, he founded a school dedicated to this practice.
Master Ole Gabrielsen’s work focuses on helping people reconnect with their inner harmony and personal strength. Over the years, he has continued to refine the system, aligning its teachings with what practitioners describe as evolving planetary energies.
The Importance of Awakening Kundalini
Kundalini is often described as the force that activates the chakra system. It is typically associated with the base of the spine, corresponding to the first chakra. This life force is believed to energize both body and consciousness, nourishing the human energetic system and supporting the circulation of vital energy.
For many people, the activity of Kundalini remains subtle unless consciously explored. Practices such as Kundalini Reiki are intended to support a gradual and mindful awakening of this energy.
After receiving a Kundalini Reiki attunement, practitioners describe the energy flow in the body as becoming more active, supporting vitality and encouraging the release of energetic blockages. Many people report experiencing increased inner strength, clarity, and overall energetic balance.
Safety of Kundalini Reiki
Kundalini Reiki is sometimes confused with Kundalini Yoga, where intensive practices may lead to a rapid rise of energy that some traditions approach with caution. Kundalini Reiki, however, is described as a gentle and intelligent universal energy that works gradually and respectfully with the individual’s readiness.
Through regular sessions, meditation, and practice, this energy is believed to support the natural awakening of one’s own Kundalini energy and inner strength. Practitioners emphasize that the process unfolds gradually, in alignment with the body’s natural pace.
Below you can see an illustration showing examples of how the Kundalini Reiki energy is described as working within the body during initiation into each level:
Kundalini Reiki Activation:

As Kundalini energy increases, many subtle shifts may be experienced. People often describe feeling more alive and energized, with a heightened awareness of their senses. Since the senses are connected with the chakra system, the awakening of Kundalini is believed to influence many aspects of perception. Food may seem richer in flavor, aromas more noticeable, colors brighter, touch more vivid, and music deeper and more spacious. The world can begin to feel more vibrant and alive.
As the Kundalini energy grows, overall vitality may also increase. Some practitioners notice greater mental clarity and the ability to focus on complex tasks with less fatigue. Sleep patterns may gradually change as the energy flow deepens. In some cases, people report needing fewer hours of sleep while still feeling refreshed, and dreams may become clearer or more vivid.
The 3 Levels of Kundalini Reiki
During the initiation into Kundalini Reiki Level 1, energetic blocks in the chakras are gently cleared. The main energy channel—from the root chakra to the crown chakra—is prepared for the awakening of Kundalini, which traditionally takes place during the initiation into Kundalini Reiki Level 2. The heart chakra is expanded, and the energy channel from the hands to the crown chakra is opened so that Reiki energy can flow freely.
At Kundalini Reiki Level 3 (Master Level), the full rising of Kundalini is symbolically completed, and the main energetic channels are activated (see the illustration above).
At the third level, you also receive additional attunements:
-
Crystal Reiki — supports the release of energetic blocks and stored emotional patterns
-
Birth Trauma Reiki — focuses on healing the energetic imprint of birth
-
Past Life Reiki — supports the release of karmic patterns from past experiences
-
DNA Reiki — works with ancestral patterns passed through the family line
-
Location Reiki — helps harmonize karmic connections with certain places
After initiation into the third level, you receive the title of Kundalini Reiki Master.
Learning Kundalini Reiki
In our school, you can receive initiations into Kundalini Reiki Levels 1, 2, and 3 (Version 2025), the most recent version of the system. After completing these levels, you may continue with the Kundalini Reiki Millennium course.
Millennium is an additional program, while the core and foundational training is the Kundalini Reiki course, where you receive the main tools, practices, and methods for working with this energy.
More detailed information can be found on the Kundalini Reiki training. If you wish, you can also join a free week of training to explore the practice and see whether it resonates with you.
And if you are already participating in the free week — welcome, it’s wonderful to see you here.
